We seek an exceptional Executive Director of Strategic Marketing and Recruitment to drive our ambitious plans to grow and diversify our student community. This new leadership role, reporting directly to the Vice-Chancellor and Principal, will lead the Marketing, Admissions and Recruitment strategy and delivery for the University, focusing on maximising opportunities within the highly competitive UK student recruitment market, providing strategic guidance to senior colleagues and ensure effective leadership of our pivotal and high-performing recruitment services.

Working with dedicated, professional and experienced Marketing and Admissions recruitment teams, you will analyse the competitive domestic market landscape to develop a comprehensive and compelling strategic recruitment plan for both local and national markets. A priority is reviewing the unique UCB brand and ensuring that our unique and significantly extended proposition is visible and understood in key market areas. The successful candidate will position University College Birmingham to effectively respond to future recruitment challenges, joining us at a transformative time as we build upon our institutional strengths and regional partnerships.

About the role:

This position is suited to a person with current clinical expertise in a relevant area with an openness to developing capacity to teach across multiple areas of the curriculum, and a passion for developing and delivering high quality and relevant learning for speech pathology students. A keen interest in engagement with the disability sector to support teaching and employability is also necessary.

As a Speech Pathology Lecturer (Industry Professional), you will:


	Deliver effective teaching practices and suggest approaches to innovate teaching practices to achieve student learning experiences to support success and engagement
	Apply industry, clinical and/or research practice into student learning experiences, success, engagement and resources.
	Contribute to unit teaching teams and work collaboratively with other unit teaching teams in the course to develop effective unit curricula, clinical/professional education experiences and learning resources.
	Contribute to the review of units and courses and implement refinements.
	Support the development and delivery of clinically-focussed learning opportunities across the curriculum    


To be successful, you’ll have: 


	Master of Speech Pathology or above and/or other relevant qualifications with relevant professional experience;
	Recent (within the last five years) speech pathology practice experience
	Excellent record of scholarly learning and teaching in UG and/or PG programs.
	Capacity to contribute to innovative curriculum design.
	Demonstrated capacity for building collaborative partnerships with varied people/organisations

About the Role 

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented PhD student to join a cutting-edge project led by Professor Xia-Ji Liu, funded by the Australian Research Council. This position offers the chance to work at the forefront of theoretical physics at the Centre for Quantum Technology Theory (CQTT) — a leading research hub pushing the boundaries of quantum science.

This fully funded, three-year PhD scholarship (full-time) provides a unique opportunity to explore the next frontier of photonic quantum technologies.

About the Project:

Making Strongly Interacting Photons investigates a remarkable class of particles called polaritons — hybrids of light and matter that can flow without resistance, mimicking the behaviour of quantum fluids. These systems, known as quantum fluids of light, promise revolutionary applications in low-energy photonic devices, including ultra-efficient lasers and all-optical transistors.

Our goal is to uncover the elusive physics of strongly interacting polaritons far from equilibrium, bringing the vision of room-temperature superfluid light closer to reality. This research could position Australia as a global leader in the commercialisation of next-generation photonic technologies.

Key Research Themes:


	Determining the polariton–polariton interaction strength
	Mapping the non-equilibrium phase diagram under strong light–matter coupling
	Investigating polariton-polarons and emergent quasiparticles in imbalanced regimes


What We’re Looking For:


	We’re looking for a driven and capable student who is eager to tackle complex, high-impact problems in quantum physics.


The ideal candidate will have:


	A strong background in theoretical physics, especially in ultracold quantum gases or condensed matter theory
	Proven analytical, computational, and modelling skills
	Experience with numerical simulations of quantum or many-body systems
	A deep curiosity about the fundamental nature of light and matter


Qualifications

Honours and Master degree in quantum physics, theoretical physics, and condensed matter physics.

The Discovery Research Platform for Medical Humanities (DRP-MH) at Durham University aims to empower health and wellbeing researchers from different sectors and disciplines to co-develop new and experimental approaches to tackling health challenges, including mental health and health inequalities. It is a £9m award which aims to transform the way research is undertaken in the field of Medical Humanities.

The Platform involves researchers from departments across the Arts and Humanities, Social Sciences and Sciences. It will also engage with and support international research networks, and a wide range of voluntary and health sector partnerships. The DRP-MH is hosted by the Institute for Medical Humanities (IMH) which is focused on improving health by understanding hidden experiences. The Institute and Platform are currently located at the Confluence building on Durham University's Science Site.

The Discovery Research Platform for Medical Humanities (DRP-MH) seeks to appoint a General Administrative Assistant to join our operations team, reporting to the Operations Manager. This is a 3-year fixed term post, with the potential for an extension.

The position offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced administrator to join a dynamic and friendly team. Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the General Administrative Assistant will work with key academic Lab and Site Leads in the Platform; Institute for Medical Humanities staff and a variety of administrative teams across the University, to deliver excellent operational and administrative support. They will work flexibly to ensure the operations team functions effectively in meeting priorities, working in accordance with University and Departmental policies and procedures, demonstrating a commitment to customer service excellence.

The role will provide a diverse range of tasks and responsibilities: including supporting the leads across the platform; purchasing goods and services, as required; assisting with the administration of events; servicing management group meetings and ensuring DRP-MH administrative processes and systems give efficient and effective support, recommending changes when appropriate.

The Discovery Research Platform is an exciting place to work. Our offices in the Confluence building on Durham University's Science site offer a friendly and pleasant environment in which to work with the flexibility of having quiet dedicated office space alongside an open plan area, meeting rooms and a well-equipped staff room.

This post will be office based, but with an element of flexibility. We are also open to requests for reduced work hours to fit around family, childcare or life commitments from 0.7 FTE upwards.

The post is open in terms of theoretical and methodological approach within the field of Politics. The post holder is expected to contribute to the delivery of the BAs in European Politics and European Studies and the MAs in International Political Economy and European Studies, and the BA in International Relations to which the department contributes. In particular, the post holder will be expected to deliver modules on Allies in Arms, Foreign Policy Analysis, Global Politics, Italian Politics and The Making of Modern Europe. The post holder will also contribute to supervision at UG and PGT levels, contribute to advancing the department’s research culture, and work well with others in the department and across the School and Faculty.

About the role


	Contribute to the planning, organisation and delivery of innovative teaching activities within the department, particularly the BA European Politics, BA European Studies, MA International Political Economy and MA European Studies, as well as the BA International Relations to which the department contributes.
	Teach modules on Allies in Arms, Foreign Policy Analysis, Global Politics, Italian Politics and The Making of Modern Europe.
	Contribute fully to developing and enhancing the research profile of the Department, School and College.
	Supervise and train postgraduate students to ensure their effective development.
	Act as personal tutor to students.
	Participate fully in assessment and examination process as appropriate using a variety of methods and techniques and provide effective, timely and appropriate feedback to students to support their leaning.
	Participate in and develop internal and external networks.
	Conduct individual or collaborative research projects.
	Contribute to departmental, School, Faculty and University administrative duties.


This is a full time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.
