The Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow position in plant stress biology to contribute to a multidisciplinary project focused on plant adaptation to temperature changes through stress priming and memory in the early growth phases. This project is part of a strategic initiative to develop temperature-resilient crops by harnessing the mechanisms of plant cell memory and stress priming.

The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary team of molecular biologists, bioinformaticians, and crop scientists to investigate how plants remember and respond to environmental temperature stress during early development stages. This research will involve high-throughput omics, physiological assays, and computational modeling to design and validate stress-priming protocols for selected crops.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct transcriptomic, epigenomic, and metabolomic profiling of seedlings under controlled temperature priming conditions.
  • Identify molecular markers and pathways associated with stress memory and enhanced stress tolerance.
  • Develop and test priming protocols for crops such as tomato, eggplant, onion, and strawberry.
  • Collaborate on data analysis using computational tools and machine learning to optimize treatment conditions.
  • Contribute to the development of reproducible stress priming methods and assist in transferring knowledge to agricultural stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Pant Physiology or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in stress biology, transcriptomics, or epigenetics.
  • Proficiency in omics data analysis and scientific programming (e.g., R, Python).
  • Strong record of peer-reviewed publications in plant science or related fields.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with abiotic stress assays in controlled and field environments.
  • Knowledge of crop breeding or trait selection under environmental stress.

Application Process:

Applicants should submit the following documents:

  • Cover letter highlighting research interests and experience relevant to plant stress priming and memory.
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) including a list of publications.
  • Contact details for three academic references.
